Browse Forums Home Theatre & Automation 1 Jan 08, 2009 6:45 pm I was just curious as to the best way to wire up a new house.
Is it best to buy the equipment and then tell the electrician what you want to be able to do ? I have no idea about connection and what type I will have or need. Are most electricians capable of doing cables for TVs/AV Reciever ? My plans at this stage are to have a Plasma wall mounted at the front of the room and then at the side of the room I want to have a Blu Ray DVD player and AV receiver placed. Suggestions or advice is very much sought after, would I need anything else to be wired up ? What about my PS3, could I get a HMDI cable wired in ? Re: Wiring Question 2Jan 08, 2009 11:31 pm hey jester, im a electrician, and my best bet is not to jump ahead and get stuff, as i have encounterd alot that people buy things and we cant work with it lol.
so get in touch with your sparky and tell him what u wana get and what u wana b able 2 do and he shall sort you out, as long as he knows what you want b4 hand wiring wont be that hard and he should be more than happy 2 assist you Re: Wiring Question 3Jan 09, 2009 7:23 am In my experience most sparkys don't fully understand all of the requirements and capabilities of some of the equipment that makes up even a modest home cinema/AV setup.
You still need to work with someone who knows what the currently available equipment can and can't do and what is most likely to change in this regard in the very near future, and what sort of budget you have so you can work out what sort of capabilities you will have when you get your gear (ie. will your AV Receiver do HDMI switching, will it be capable or up-converting ALL video signals/formats to HDMI so you won't need to run any other types of video cabling. Planning your room with a specialist should give you much more confidence that you won't have missed something important which could lead to serious issues if, for example, you have a 2 storey place... You can really use anything you want the main consideration would be how it looks once painted/finished - or the look you want. Cabinetmakers use MDF because its cheap… 2 9957 I would say both styles you have pictured are steel. The lower chord of the first pic would be a massive lump if made using timber considering the size of the rafters. If… 1 6150 1 13121 |
