media room in white

Will the media room (with TV & speakers) walls, ceiling & bulkhead need to be painted in dark color or leave it with white.
Its already have 2 windows, glass wardrobe (as guest bedroom occasionally) which I think can be covered with thick drapes.
I feel the black paint makes the room smaller apart.
How distracting are white wall & ceilings in a media room with TV?
Even if you don't find it distracting, will it affect the quality of the image on the TV screen?

that's a lot of "it depends"

Is it just a room with a TV you plan on watching, oris it a theatre where you'd like to recreate some sense of occasion?

If the former, dont worry about it.

If the latter, then you really should look at way to limit the reflection of various sources of light back towards the screen. However, depending on the quality of the TV, its not necessarily overly relevant. Where it becomes relevant is if youre using a projector and a screen , or projecting onto a wall. Then sources of light can interfere with the picture. But on a TV your picture is backlit, so as long as your sources of light arent reflecting directly on teh screen, should be fine.

Also other options exists, not just black. Textured dark er wal papers and Greys may also be suitable.
