Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 13, 2020 6:20 pm Hi all, we are doing a KDR, building a Metricon Duxton Isla 35, demolition starts next week Electricity and gas have been abolished and now need to sort out an underground pit. As far as I know, I need to submit an application to United Energy and provide them with a site sketch? Anyone know the process? The form also asks for my registered electrical contractor. Any help will greatly be appreciated, cheers. Re: Underground Power Pit Process? 2Sep 15, 2020 2:32 pm It is pretty straight forward, mine cost about $5k at start of the year with United Energy in south east Melbourne. All I did was complete the form as well as the sketch. They then send someone out to validate accuracy and provide you a quote which I think lasts 3 months. In terms of electrical contractor, I don't think I had to provide any detail as it was part of a KDR and therefore the electricity was not being turned on straight after. The only other point i'd highlight is that you may want to ask for 3 phase instead of single. From memory there was no additional cost for this. Re: Underground Power Pit Process? 5Feb 24, 2021 9:03 pm I got a quote for 3phase 76Amp as below. The pit is just 2 meters from the pole. Is this sound reasonable? Cost of Pit Installation $ 4900.00 Additional Cabling Cost (2) meters $ 143 Total Cost Payable (including GST) $ 5043.00 Re: Underground Power Pit Process? 9Oct 19, 2022 7:46 am Kotex yeh, That's big increase. I was told normally cabling including to some length. Any idea to get this reviewed with someone from supplier ? Hi Kotex did you have any luck getting this reviewed? Did they give you breakdown or just 1 figure? I've been quoted just under $5.5 with the existing pole 1-2m from the pit - have tried to call and email but can't get any response from supplier. Hi Serog, I am going to have to go through the same process. May I know where you are building and who is your electricity distributor. I am planning KDRB in Vermont South and have to go through United Energy. I have to fill out the form in their online portal. If you are with United Energy, can you please contact me on 0402667667. Need to clarify a few things. Hi JW I just read your post and I find this situation quite strange.
