Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 05, 2020 2:36 pm I've emailed my Hickinbotham contact questions and they told me that they don't know and to make a list for when we go into our selections appointment of the things we want. Their letter says, "We have made sure that we have something for everyone so there is no need to select outside of our range." But after seeing the virtual tour of their selections facilities, it seems like they just have basic things for the shower and the selections booklet doesn't seem to yield anything special than getting a pipe and small rain shower head. I'm mostly interested in getting a thermostatic mixer and diverters, maybe shower rain tiles, things like that. I'm worried about having to having to do a renovation to get what I want. Access to 2 of the 3 walls in the shower area are not ideal to access. (other side of vanity, behind oven) I was considering seeing if they would put the shower fixtures on the wall that is accessible. Is this common with other builders? Are there any other options anyone has any ideas about? Requesting that the shower be left untiled? Have it plumbed but capped off? Request that extra showerheads be installed using their own mixer at certain points? (Even though it might be funny to request one at 1400mm off the floor for a rain tile) Thank you for any help. Re: Hickinbotham Selections - Shower 2Aug 05, 2020 4:10 pm Best advice is to go into the Design centre on North Terrace and check the selections yourself. We visited at least 4 times ahead of our selections appointment and chose everything well ahead. Take plenty of photos and ask for costings. I doubt you will have an issue with choosing a shower head. In our main bathroom our shower cavity (2500x1100) has a large rainfall shower head from the ceiling at one end, and another large shower head that pivots from an arm fitted to the wall at the other end. We have a mixer tap at fitted on the side wall at both ends of the shower cavity. I want to go in tomorrow as we plan to sign but i want a realistic idea of our costs at selections... Re: Hickinbotham Selections - Shower 4Aug 28, 2020 12:36 am You just go in, no need for an appointment. However they won’t give you prices. Take photos of the upgrades you like and then go back and see the salesperson you have been dealing with, he/she has a copy of the selections folder with all the costings listed and they can tell you what each item will cost extra. Tell the salesperson you won’t sign unless you get an idea of these additional costs (that’s what we did). Our upgrades were around $23k. If you know some of the items you want included just PM me, if the same as any of our selections i will be able to give you the cost. Re: Hickinbotham Selections - Shower 5Aug 28, 2020 8:40 am I did visit the selections centre a few times before our selections appointment, we were never spoke to by anyone who worked there during this time. They did not have anything I wanted when it came to the shower, but I changed the layout of where I placed things to make it hopefully easy to change to some of what I want in the future. I could not add an alcove without doing a redraw, so get that in if you want it in your shower. They will not add floor drains unless there is a bathtub in the room. (ie. no floor drain allowed in laundry) I was surprised how reasonably priced powerpoints and batten lights were. I'm also happy to answer any questions about the costs in PM in case it wasn't part of Bebbsy's selection. How much are you ahead in payments compared to where the build is at? Have you fully drawn down the loan? 5 11934 I'll look into different shower heads and ask the plumber about some engineering and see what he says.
