Can anyone give me a quick overview of ovens?
Where do I start? I've opted for 2 x ovens. Is a steam oven/combi oven worth the money?
Any recommendations or feedback would be greatly appreciated!
Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Steam Oven/Combi Oven 2Nov 05, 2020 9:10 pm I previously had a steam combi Miele oven, we rarely used it, every time you use it the whole inside needs to be cleaned, after use there is always loads of condensation in the oven, we just found it was very tedious. Building again, no Miele ( really didn’t like it) and no steam oven. Re: Steam Oven/Combi Oven 3Nov 06, 2020 3:51 pm Didn't use steam oven much at all. Just easier with stove top steamer. Same issue, lots of clean up. I got a plumbed in version, even worse, now i have to worry about burst water main. Not sure if it's worth the trouble. The biggest issue is low temperature. Max 225C which is not hot enough if you want to do proper pastry/pizzas. However, it is handy to be able to control exact moisture content during baking. Maybe just too lazy to figure out how to use it properly. Re: Steam Oven/Combi Oven 4Nov 07, 2020 5:02 am I have the Bosch series 8 and hate it. Hardly use the steam function. Only really if cooking meat. Otherwise I steam everything on the cooktop. It has intuitive cooking where you can program in what you’re cooking and it has specific settings that are supposed to be idea for that meal. It has a lasagne setting for example and pumps so much steam into the oven the whole lasagne collapses! That’s just the start of why I don’t like this oven! Seems like we may have fell into a good decision. 😄 Re: Steam Oven/Combi Oven 7Nov 07, 2020 10:06 am Yes definitely! Our steam oven (not combi just straight steam) was over 4k and really was not used. I bought it for symmetry, as we had a bank of 4 ovens, 2 ovens, 1 microwave/combi and the steam. It looked beautiful though! We decided it was not worth the money at all, hence not putting one in our new build. This time round I’ve got two pyrolytic neff slide and hide and one combi microwave convection. Re: Steam Oven/Combi Oven 8Nov 07, 2020 10:31 am Agree - when we built last time had pyrolytic oven and straight steam oven - we used it once only in 4 years!! - bit of a fiddle to fill the water then obviously because of its nature there is a lot of wiping down after... This time just having one oven (because we don't need two) or I would recommend two ovens the second with Microwave options. 2 3905 Hi Chippy, no there isn't, gave it a really good look through and literally opened everything and checked all edges as well. Hence the question, just hoping someone would… 2 1156 My daughter and son in law are about to start building, they are having a 600mm induction cook top and 900mm oven.
