Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 25, 2020 11:01 am I am building a 42sq house with 3 baths (main bath and en-suite on first level and powder room with shower on ground floor). We are a family of 4 and I have been thinking of potentially adding a second hot water system. The builder thinks this is a great idea, given the distance between the hot water system and some of the baths, but at over $3k I am a bit hesitant. Trying to get feedback on what others have done and how big of an improvement the second system will bring. Thanks in advance! Re: Did you install 1 or 2 instantaneous gas hot water syste 2Jul 25, 2020 11:40 am Hi Boro Our house is a long thin single storey house with the ensuite about 30 metres from the second bathroom. We opted for 2 instantaneous gas water heaters and I'm glad we did. One feeds the ensuite, kitchen and alfresco kitchen and the second does the bathroom, laundry and powder room. You would wait so long for hot water if you only had one unit. Depending on what sort of unit's you are using the $3k for an additional unit is probably a bit expensive. But if you think about the amount of water you will save over the years it's well worth it.
