We plan to change the plain flush door to a timber door with glass in the middle. \/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/ Re: Changing doors in a cavity slider 2Oct 03, 2008 9:27 pm Hi dembi_2000,
I'm no expert, but we were told that such doors are too heavy for the runners on cavity sliders. Our Rumpus was originally drawn with cavity sliders, but as we are having timber & glass panelled doors, this had to be altered to swinging french doors. Our experience has also shown that the cavity slider is more expensive than a hinged door. So my thoughts are that if this is the case for you, perhaps you could change to a flush panel hinged door & just change the door to timber & glass panel later on. Again, I'm no expert so you'd best check on this with your builder or someone in the industry. Re: Changing doors in a cavity slider 3Oct 10, 2008 4:08 pm Dembi,
There is a couple of things you need to consider. Many timber doors with glass are 40mm thick and depending on the cavity sliding frame you have you may not be able to fit a 40mm door in so that will limit your door choice. As for the rollers and fittings, some cavity sliders have weight limits of between 25 to 35kg. Some timber doors with glass can weigh up to 50kg. Probably best to talk to a door manufacturer, perhaps C0rinthian. Re: Changing doors in a cavity slider 4Oct 10, 2008 8:11 pm I think those doors you want, which i see all the time in display houses are the Corinthian Windsor 21 doors. I have actually seen them as cavity slider doors. But as She&He said, those doors might be thick. I'm not sure about that. I guess if you get the doors with the builder, they will provide you with a sliding door system that fits the door as well as supports the door.
It might be worthwhile to check the Corinthian website and maybe contacting them. Cheers Hey guys, what’s everyone opinion on James Hardie linea direct fix to frame?
