This was posted in a Facebook group titled "Metricon New Home Builders Discussion Group", by Nel Magtanum, and does raise some interesting questions! Maybe some of you with more legal knowledge can answer these?
Under the current legislation owners are responsible for appointing their building surveyor (PBS) and builder may act as an agent for the processing the application of building permit.
I would like to ask, who in this group manage to appoint their building surveyor (either recommended by your builder or chosen by you) and provided a copy of your four (4) inspection report by your nominated building surveyor?
How many manage to ask that the professional fee of your building surveyor is already included in your base price (excluding the application of your building permit)?
Who have chosen a different building surveyor (PBS) or manage to ask how the process should be done as imposed by the Building Act 1993 and advise by Victorian Building Authority (VBA) or Consumer Affairs Victoria (CAV)?
Who manage to discussed this process to your builder?
