Hey guys
About the onsite detention construction. Can any licensed plumber do it or does he need to have special certification like how they do with electricians?

Re: Onsite detention 5Jul 07, 2020 12:38 pm SaveH2O It's only plumbing, nothing special. The plumber just needs to be licensed for roof drainage and stormwater. A detention tank has a restricted flow outlet to match the maximum PSD, apart from that the installation is no different to a normal rainwater tank unless you are having a pumped system. I have assumed that you are having an above ground tank that incorporates retention and detention compartments (levels). Apart from the lesser PSD, there will also be a standard 'emergency' overflow outlet at the top. A problem to be aware of is the overflow mesh on both outlets gumming up, these either need to be accessible for maintenance when the tank's water level permits or else flap (frog) valves or a meshed air gap arrangement installed to negate maintenance requirements (my recommendation). The latter is my strong recommendation, see link below. https://rainharvesting.com.au/products/ ... ap-family/ The photo below shows a restricted PSD outlet plus the upper emergency overflow outlet. Thanks for the info Re: Onsite detention 6Jul 07, 2020 3:38 pm Having an air gap is actually mandated in QLD (I know that you are in NSW) but it is a superior low cost idea to have on any installation. I would also like to see overflow pipes have a mandated flexible coupling because I have seen just so many crack due to either tank deflection as it empties and fills and/or due to ground movement. 3in1 Supadiverta.
