Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 30, 2020 9:48 pm We are very close to the end of pre-construction period. Demolition contractor and builder will be in about 4 weeks to knock down our old house in Sydney Upper North Shore. We now need to find a place for renting about 9-18 months. But, generally speaking, living in same or near suburbs (Upper North Shore) will be expensive rental rate, 900 per week. Or we can rent an 3 bedroom apartment at inner-west for 30 mins driving distance for about 750 per week. The benefit of living close to the site is obvious, we can come to check the construction progress often. Also move in and out would be quick and easy. Living a bit far would save up some weekly rental costs. But obviously more time on driving to the site. My questions are: 1). Did you guys need go to the construction site often? How often? Once a week? Does regular check of construction site is necessary? 2). Which option should I choose? Near but paying a bit more rent? or far but total 1 hour in driving? You only really need to technically visit the site once during each major stage of construction, anything more often is just to satisfy your excitement and curiosity. Having said that, you will find you will want to head out there a few times a week if its within short distance Re: Rent a property while knock down and rebuild constructio 4Jul 01, 2020 4:05 pm I actually just find a similar price in same suburb of the construction site. I prefer to stay closer. But my wife does like the option of far away because she like inner west apartment suburb, Rhodes... I dont understand why... Re: Rent a property while knock down and rebuild constructio 6Jul 13, 2020 8:22 pm I lived 5 min drive away from construction and drive by every morning to check on any activities during my build Simply to keep record of whats happening on site. There were times nothing happen for 6 weeks, try to make sure your site manager is reporting to you weekly, this is your house you don't wants any delay, know every steps of your build. Make sure your site manager is very active for your construction. Good luck. Hi, we are knocking down to rebuild. Has anyone had any experience with Stylemaster homes in the last 1-2 years. Any feedback would be appreciated TIA 0 28463 No still building. Roof is on, brickwork nearly finished, started plumbing rough ins, windows next week then render.
