Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 31, 2020 9:55 pm Hi friends, I am planning to build a new house in point cook & block size is 14*35. Please suggest a good builder & best floor plan. what all dos & donts i should consider? Re: Suggestion for a new house 2Jun 01, 2020 8:42 am karthicksri I suggest considering True Value Homes. They are rated Australia's best builder in product review. They say they build about 100 homes per year in the Wyndham area which places them amongst the top 3 local builders there, alongside Metricon and Simonds. There is some detailed discussion about them on this forum: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=96112&hilit=true+value I would recommend one 'do', however, that you ask them to connect you with 5 of their recent customers (called 'family members' by them) to speak directly with them, before investing money or significant time. Re: Suggestion for a new house 3Jun 01, 2020 12:01 pm You'll have to do the hard strides , visit display homes get at-least 5 quotes and compare who's offering what. A word of caution, don't get blown away by styling of the display homes. Look for what you need in your house. When comparing inclusions and exclusions, see how much of work you'll be left with post handover. Check if any of the builders allows you to make customisations (even if minor). Don't fall for petty inclusions like blinds, flyscreens etc. high ceilings , standard flooring throughout the house, niches in baths etc are much better inclusions comparatively. In addition , don't fall for anyone who promises the moon, all builders are here to make money and have margin in everything they provide. Go for ones who may be genuine in practice, allows you to have your own surveyors & private inspectors and does not force you to sign a contract( bcoz this offer is not applicable if not signed by the end of the week) Re: Suggestion for a new house 4Jun 04, 2020 8:02 pm Where are you from?
