Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 01, 2008 12:59 am Hi everyone
I'm new to the forum and after having such fantastic help including photos from Kristie (gweluphome), I thought I should branch out to ask for further help. Basically I'm looking at exterior colours for our new house we are building. We have to choose a solver paint and we have looked at some like cork, crag grey, beaver, c/b stone, kanga & lundy grey. I am yet to see a house in lundy grey. Any pics from anyone? Or thoughts on the colours pls? We have chosen a colorbond roof in shale grey as well as gutters then fascia in woodland grey inc front door and planter also. Timber look garage door. Thanks for your help Re: solver paint lundy grey for exterior? 2Apr 07, 2009 6:38 pm HI, just found your post. I have actually chosen the Lundy Grey as our main exterior render colour, with Solver Balsamic (Purple/brown) and Taubmans Beaver Creek (Dark Grey) as featurs colours. (Nervous too, that it's going to be busy, but I really like these colours together) ... our roof colour is Colourbond Dune I notice your post is quite a few months old now, did you decide to go with Lundy Grey? Would love to see some pics if you did. I will attach a photo of the above colours that I painted on to the outside of our brick to get an idea of what they will look like. We are thinking of using Solver Lundy Grey as our main exterior render colour too!! Our roof is bristile tile - Aniseed (Dark Grey). Who are you building with again?? Did you see any houses with Lundy Grey?? Ours is just about to have the top floor rendered so will know very shortly if I have made the right decision. I think the outside colour selections has been the hardest choice to make when building. Hope all is going well with your build. Re: solver paint lundy grey for exterior? 5May 07, 2009 2:29 pm Can't wait to see the photos. Our build is coming along, but what a stressful process this is! Probably about a week away from painting ... as soon as I have some pics I will post. Even yesterday when looking at the house I am so nervous about our colours and where we are positioning them ... Are you still considering Lundy Grey? Re: solver paint lundy grey for exterior? 8May 26, 2009 3:39 pm I know - it is all a bit stressful. We are still considering Lundy Grey I can't think about external colours anymore lol BUILT with Homebuyer's Centre - Aussie Alfresco Games viewtopic.php?f=31&t=16668 Moved In - Dec 14th Painting all but done - Jan 11 Front Landscaping - Feb 8 Moved In PICS Page 43 Re: solver paint lundy grey for exterior? 9May 27, 2009 2:20 pm Hi there everyone It's been such a long time since I last visited this forum but attached is a picture of our house nearly complete. I'm sure you're all keen to see the lundy grey - I would totally recommend it. Lundy grey render, woodland grey trim and shale grey for the roof & gutters. I did so much research on colours and very happy with the result. Just done the inside too - another nightmare but all good too. Hope the builds go well. Your colours look great, and I just breathed a big sigh of relief when I saw your Lundy Grey render, it looks gorgeous. We are are having a Dune roof. Cheers once again, much appreciated. Re: solver paint lundy grey for exterior? 12May 28, 2009 11:00 am Hey, thanks for posting the picture. I like the colour but it looks lighter than the paint brochure I have. Is it just my computer?? I'm thinking we might have to go something closer to weathered copper now... We went through 7 sample colours before we settled on something we were happy with. Just say you're an RAC member and you get a little discount also Re: solver paint lundy grey for exterior? 14May 28, 2009 12:08 pm Thanks Rex, that sounds like a good idea. I am really disappointed that I have finalised my colours now!!! What colour did you end up going with?? Just as we were staring at it from our car the owner walks out and gave us the colour codes for it, as it wasn't a 'named' colour. Few days later we went to solver and gave the colour codes to them and they made a 500mL sample tin, just so we could be sure. The colour is a tad lighter than Solver Weathered Cedar, but darker than Lundy Grey. Thats my simplified assessment of the colour as colours aren't my specialty Should look great with a Balsamic planter box Re: solver paint lundy grey for exterior? 16May 28, 2009 2:46 pm Hi there Yes, lundy grey in my mind is lighted when painted to that on the printed sample... Haven't heard of that copper colour but would definitely recommend some sample tins. Cost me about $7 each and I painted big panels of three different colours. You soon know which one you favour... All the best Michelle Re: solver paint lundy grey for exterior? 17May 28, 2009 3:33 pm I went through 14 sample pots to finally get our colour combination Personally, I am happier that the Lundy Grey is a bit lighter as we have strong accent colours and believe they will show them off better. I was really pleased when I saw the photo and it gave me reassurance. I have painted my final colours on the front of our house on the red brick, but it's going to look different when it's actually a render, that's why it's so nerve wracking, you really won't know what it's going to look like until it's all done!! In the Solver Paint shop in Mandurah, they have big section of Lundy Grey on a display board aswell as the back wall of the store being painted in the Balsamic (that's where I first saw the colour and asked what it was, love that colour) Good luck everyone ..... Re: solver paint lundy grey for exterior? 18May 30, 2009 6:38 pm I've stopped stressing now - disaster over We went to the Solver shop and asked how we achieve the colour shown in the brochure for Lundy Grey, as it is too light in the sunlight. She said just ask for a 150% or 200% mix and it would be the same as in the brochure. We bought a sample tin to check anyway...just need to find where the paint brushes are Lundy Grey is very similar to Taubmans Lapstone for anyone that's interested. You can see it in the flesh, together with dulux linseed, on the Scott Park Grand Avalon display at Meadowsprings IT's on their website too BUILT with Homebuyer's Centre - Aussie Alfresco Games viewtopic.php?f=31&t=16668 Moved In - Dec 14th Painting all but done - Jan 11 Front Landscaping - Feb 8 Moved In PICS Page 43 Re: solver paint lundy grey for exterior? 19Jun 09, 2009 5:47 pm Loving our Lundy Grey. The acrylic render was applied today. They haven't finished yet, they have done half of the top floor. Will post photos when the scaffolding gets taken away. Our builders have put our Balsamic on the wrong wall!!! My site supervisor told me that they get the render tinted 200%. So you might want to check that out. You might have to ask for a 400% tint Really, really pleased with the Lundy colour. Phew .........
