Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 25, 2020 11:12 am Long story short we have rented out our old home to friends whose house is being built and will be completed around Nov 2020. But we went and saw a builder to get plans going so that we can start construction once our friends move out. The sales Rep verbally assured us that the tender will be extended for 12 months instead of the standard 270 calender day. We foolishly did not get this in writing and now the sales rep no longer works for that company. The company has now come back saying that if we cannot commence contruction by the end of the tender expiry the tender extension fee is $3553/month and we are looking at $17k extra if we go as planned. Having paid the deposit common sense is to ask the tenants to move out but what other options do i have? Should i walk out? First time builder Depends on how much you have given this builder to this date, in these times it may be advantageous to walk away, $3,553 per month is ridiculous, send me a message if you don't want to reveal the amount/builder publicly Re: Tender Extension Vs Walking Out 3May 26, 2020 8:53 am DR1216 The sales Rep verbally assured us that the tender will be extended for 12 months instead of the standard 270 calender day. Welcome to the forum Unfortunately, The new home Sales rep Industry is yet to be regulated and cleaned out.... OT, Hmmm, there's an opportunity? Unlike the car and real estate Industries which incidentally has the processes replaced by apps . LOL, they prefer to trust a software engineers script to a Sales broker BS anyday? Even if you got it in writing ? where are the battlers and punters going to take their complaints...I doubt the NSW courts? Most other states have a regulating Building Commission for complaints.. but not in NSW?
