Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 19, 2020 4:39 pm Hi, A new build in Bentley (WA) and the rafters were inspected by a roofing carpenter and he expressed doubts as far as the span was concerned. From the support by the internal bricks to the first intermediate support I measured 3120mm for the span. The roof is Colorbond. I have not measured the spacing to the next rafters, but one table gives me 600 or 900 as a choice. Where I am stuck are the choices of the roof loading given in steps of 10 kg/m2 from 10 up to 40 from memory. Is this with wind loading or without? Is this just the weight of the Colorbond roof? One hopes the companies delivering the roofing use their software to correctly calculate the timber profile and the roofers know their business. One thing the roofers or brickies did get wrong are the vertical 10mm threaded ties, which are supposed to hold down the timbers at selected spots, so the roof does not fly away, but the sheets will soon go on and the ties are still not connected. The span of the rafters are my worry as I am sure the builder will do something with the ties. Thanks. How good is Simeon?! Always taking time to help others out! Wish we were building in NSW and could work together. Thanks for all that you do! 7 6564 Hi, Really struggling to find some consistency amongst Span Tables, can anyone help… 0 2664 CDC Housing Code 3 When to apply Floor Area external face of wall vs Gross Floor Area internal face of wall.
