Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 19, 2020 11:10 am This is our first time building so sorry if this sounds like a stupid question or common knowledge. On our plans our ensuite double shower measures 1700x900 and we have two entries to the ensuite 700 wide each (no doors). We’ve had floor to ceiling tiles specified right from tender and I’ve made it really clear To achieve a 900 width shower through the planning process. Now we’ve moved in we have just realised the builder built those sizes for the frame only and have 50mm tile “thickness” encroaching, so our double shower is actually built to 1650x850 and the entries 650. I’m a really petite person and I’ve banged my elbows a few times already. I’m so upset about this because the ensuite was a main design feature of our house. Is this even compliant and do I have a chance at all to get them to fix this? Re: Bathroom built smaller due to tiles 2May 19, 2020 11:50 am Dimensions on plans are to the frame when it's a framed house or to the brick in a double brick. There is a note on the plans to that effect. Once you add the plaster and tiles you may lose 40mm or so of those dimensions. In the overall bathroom that may not be a big deal but in a shower recess it becomes a bit more noticeable.
