Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Custom Floor Plan Feedback 22May 20, 2020 11:16 am alexp79 In general it looks okay, but it seems quite hard to differentiate between windows and doors. If let's say you move you entrance door a bit up, you will be able to extend the WIR bottom robe all the way to the wall. Same applies to the other other 2 WIR robes - you can have a shoe rack under the window and I really don't think you would need this extra door from bathroom to WIR. You might also want to place huge full height mirror on the wall opposite the WIR window (this is where you have a door now to bathroom currently). Also, not sure why your sofa in your Master is placed this way, I would say it might be more logical if you put TV on the bottom wall and orient sofa same way as your bed is oriented, so you could watch it. This will also leave out some space near the windows for a nice study nook. Bathroom layout is more or less okay, also I prefer wall hung toilets as it is much easier to clean under them + they look so much nicer (plus you can use pedestal as a full blown shelf). What type of bath tub is that? Is it back-to-wall standalone bath? What is the size of it? If you are removing door to WIR from the bathroom, you can consider extending your vanity all the way to the wall, too. I am also feeling that entrances to WC and shower are a bit on a tight side (less than 50 cm)? They should be at least 60 cm to be comfortable, best if 70 cm. Just my 2 cents. Hi alexp79, Thanks for your great feedback. I have done few changes based on the feedback. The bath tub is free standing 1700mm. I have also increased the entry width for WC and Shower. Its around 75cm now. Borrowed some space from Master and WIR. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Please feel free to comment. Thanks again ! Re: Custom Floor Plan Feedback 23May 20, 2020 11:20 am gogo65 Ooh and the whole double door in bedroom, we had that in our last house (rental) and it was a pain, we had two 500 doors, always had to open both up when I was walking in with washing baskets etc, the bolt to open the second door, was up high as they were 2.4 doors, had to get the step ladder out, or squash in, if you didn’t leave one door bolted, they rattled constantly in the wind, hated with a passion! If your going to do it, have a minimum 1440 opening, so you can fit two 720 doors. Thanks gogo65. Certainly we had that in mind when we requested the double door. While looking into the initial plans seems like we will have 1500mm wide entry so either we will get 2x720 or may be 820+520 combination. Still not decided yet. Any suggestions ? Thanks Re: Custom Floor Plan Feedback 25Jun 19, 2020 12:43 pm Hello Everyone ! Thanks for the support and guidance so far ! Its great ! Due to some reasons I have to reconfigure the living, kitchen and family areas. I am not sure how the below setup looks like and would be great if you can let me know your views or changes you would like to see. The changes which I don't know how they would look like are - 1. Kitchen Island as 2x2.2 configuration which we will have done in such a way that it can be used as a meals area as well for 4 people. I have to do this as I was not left with much clearance space around island in the kitchen for a slim and longer island. 2. I am not sure which way I should keep the Media door - Towards Kitchen or Towards Family. Just want to make sure the media space can be opened and utilised along with Family area for a bigger gathering. 3. I am feeling that the space in between Kitchen Island and Media can be better utilised but not sure if I should make Media long long or do something else with that space. 4. Is Family area getting cramped or its okay ? 5. If I move Family in place of Media then would family become too dark as the property south is towards backyard i.e. Family is west facing and alfresco is in East South Corner. It would be great to have your thoughts please Thanks ! . Kitchen islands are certainly not for every kitchen and I think in your case you could be much better off without island at all, with just an informal dining table (which you can move further down and fill in this space between kitchen and media and also free up a lot of space in the kitchen). You have enough working/cutting space in your kitchen and I don't see much of practical usage for an island over there. It is better to have Family/Living facing North and also makes complete sense to extend that french door with windows to the left and to the right as well as move that south family room window to the north. Do not put any windows on the West for your media room, put those small windows on the southern side (once you swap Family and Media). Re: Custom Floor Plan Feedback 27Jul 05, 2020 5:49 pm Can someone please advise if they have come across smart lock for double entrance door. We are planning to have the double entry door but I am struggling to find a smart lock for them. Or any other suggestions for a better locking of double front door. Thanks ! 6 55348 Hi there!
