Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our vent........!!!!!!!!!! 21Oct 07, 2008 7:09 pm Go and sit in their lobby and demand to see the boss - I think some on here have done this sort of thing and gotten results. I'm getting to the stage where I'm considering it too. because I am just so sick of this whole building business and want it finished..... Well, let's see what she says tomorrow. If she says it'll delay us another week, then I'll ask to see her supervisor, manager?? Yes Michelle, you're right....diplomacy is the way. You know, in my job, I'm always chasing customers for money & always doing it with politeness but firmness. What I've learnt is, as you've already pointed out, that if I'm on their back constantly, then we're usually the quickest to get paid. I should actually put that into practice on a personal level Funny how it's no problem at work but totally different now Maxie, thank goodness it hasn't come to that yet! But you never know. This will be my 1st test. I'll think of all those who have gone before me........ There’s a way to do it! If you’re nice but firm, they respect you for it. If your cow, you have to wait a few more weeks! For us its not even the trades, it is the people sitting in Head Office! Hope your CSR has some better information tomorrow and that you're not delayed any further. Re: Our vent........!!!!!!!!!! 27Oct 08, 2008 4:23 pm Well, my CSR has maintained her record of efficiency & promptness
The errors were fixed today with a bit of to-ing & fro-ing via email. All has been sorted. I have signed off on all final docs, plans, contract, etc... & popped them in the post. Now I only need to get confirmation from her that peg out is happening this week & excavation can commence in a fortnight. So thanks Michelle for your encouragement, but atleast on this occasion I didn't have to get "tough". Yes, I know, there'll be plenty of opportunities over teh next few months, where I'll need to flex my "muscles" but right now I have had a reprieve. Maybe see what freebies/extras they might be able to throw in to "make ammends" My opinion, it can't hurt to ask? I think its only fair for the amount of delay you have experienced already and you're not even on-site!!! Re: Our vent........!!!!!!!!!! 31Oct 08, 2008 5:36 pm Excellent news Southies! They were pretty hard-nosed through the tender process. Don't see anything changing. I don't think it hurts to ask for a little something in return for all that stress - they can only say no. I'm going to be trying for something similar myself towards the end of this (if it ever comes) .
