Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 13, 2020 7:44 pm My builder is using the Bradford thermoseal wall wrap to my house and upon inspection I have noticed that the wall wrap has small punctures all over it. Is this normal for this product? I just don't see how it's suppose to do its job as a moisture and thermo barrier if there are holes all over it. I haven't raised this issue with the builder yet. I wanted to do my research and find it if it is defective or if that's just how the product is. Anyone know more about this? Re: Issue with Bradford Thermoseal wall wrap 3Apr 14, 2020 5:00 pm As far as I am aware, it is supposed to be vapour permeable wrap, hence, those punctures are not required as the water vapour will be exiting through the wrap anyway even before condensation takes place. With those punctures, the risk is that your insulation will be always remaining wet after heavy rains (until it eventually dries out though) due to direct moisture ingress through the punctures. But rains would have to be really very heavy, indeed. E.g. I know some builders are not even installing wall wraps at all. Moreover, if punctures were required, Bradford would have to mention this in their Installation Guides. If it is Thermoseal Wall Wrap and not Thermoseal Breather as it supposed to be, then he just has wrong material choice as Wall Wrap is designed for hot humid climates where the risk of condensation is minimal and is Class I vapour barrier. Re: Issue with Bradford Thermoseal wall wrap 4Apr 14, 2020 7:12 pm Maybe it is actually the Thermoseal Wall breather? https://www.bradfordinsulation.com.au/home-insulation/wall-wraps/thermoseal-wall-wrap/wall-breather#current https://www.networkbuilding.com.au/index.php?l=product_detail&p=3294&taf=yes Vapour permeable wraps are recommended for any climate and main think it is allow walls to breath (i.e. remove water vapour) while at the same time, providing protection… 4 9787 Hey guys building a new place through a volume builder and just wondering if i should complain to the site supervisor as we just had plasterboard installed.
