Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 29, 2008 6:12 pm Called up my builder and asked for a copy of plumbing plan. They said there's no plumbing plan! They don't do plumbing plan and in case problems arise, just call the plumber Of course, I said... my common sense would dictate that!
Is it normal here not to have any plumbing plan? I'm curious to know, really....... cheers, Hannah Re: Plumbing Plans 2Sep 29, 2008 9:31 pm Well. we don't have a plumbing plan either and, sorry, I have never heard of one (admittedly there's lots of things I haven't heard of so that doesn't say much).
What sort of things would you have on a plumbing plan - like the network of pipes and sewarage and stormwater drainage?? Re: Plumbing Plans 3Sep 30, 2008 8:26 am When I was living in my now investment property the piping for toilet from the ensuite upstairs was leaking into the ceiling of the kitchen down below. Suffice to say there were a few holes cut into the ceiling to find the join in the pipes! A plan may have been nice.... and lets not even go into trying to work out "which" pipes were leaking.... eeewww! Re: Plumbing Plans 4Sep 30, 2008 8:55 am Hi Hannah
I don't think we had a plumbing plan either. If you wanted it to locate plumbing in the walls after you have built, a good idea is to take photos once the rough-in is done. Same for electricals. Even if you had a plan guaranteed that they would change it during the rough in anyway. Happened to us. In our case, due to hydronic heating pipes they had to run the plumbing through the ceiling, resulting in a bulkhead having to be added to the loungeroom. Probably why they don't have a plan, one less thing to have to commit to and then deal with the client on. Well, that's my thought too. Overseas, plumbing plans are included. That's why I find it odd here...one less thing for builders, more headaches ahead for buyers. A plan will certainly make things easier to locate future probs... Also, I called up the council just to check if plumbing plans are a norm... I got a no! Well, if council don't require anyway, why would the builders bother!!! o well.... cheers still, Hannah Re: Plumbing Plans 6May 14, 2009 11:24 pm We have a stormwater etc plan.
