Browse Forums Building A New House Re: M3tricon and Termite Protection 2Sep 30, 2008 9:55 am Penny, from what I know, which is not much, M doesnt provide termite protection as a standard like PD does. I think I looked into this also awhile back. They offer it, but for a fee.
It would be great if they did offer it as a standard, it would be something really handy. Eager might be able to help as he built with M and had termite barriers all around his house. Not sure whether he paid extra for it or not. So are you building with M or still deciding? Re: M3tricon and Termite Protection 3Sep 30, 2008 10:02 am Our termite protection is included in our site costs. Ours is the same as Eager's. I'm not sure of the specific costs of the termite protection. We were overall resonably happy with the site costs, (cheaper that other estimates) so didn't get a specific breakdown of costs.
Jo I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: M3tricon and Termite Protection 4Sep 30, 2008 2:01 pm I am definately building with M its just we had a pest inspection the other day and the man that did it told me to check exactly what they are doing with regard to termite protection as some companies do very little so little in fact as to render it pointless. Re: M3tricon and Termite Protection 5Sep 30, 2008 2:17 pm Hi Penny,
We built with M in Victoria and the termite protection was included. There should be details left for you, possibly inside your meter box and you will need to have a termite inspection doen every 12 months to keep it valid. Some pest controllers like diffrent Termite treatments - My Dad is a pest controller and he likes a diffrent methos to what M use so we deducted it from our contract and had good old dad do it. Re: M3tricon and Termite Protection 6Sep 30, 2008 3:10 pm I guess I was wrong and they do provide termite protection!
Just one question, does M provide it to all homes they build or only regional homes? Thanks. Re: M3tricon and Termite Protection 7Sep 30, 2008 3:21 pm No idea wonderland.... my house technically isn't regional. We actually fall into the suburban building area believe it or not.
Not sure what hte storey is on it..... I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: M3tricon and Termite Protection 8Sep 30, 2008 3:52 pm Yep, I remember Joles that you were in Metro Melb. I hope we do get the termite protection for free!!
I was looking at the M standard Inclusions fact sheet and it makes no mention of any termite protection I will ask our CSR when we see them on Thrusday. I also noticed that in the standard inclusion sheet, it states: 'Raft/waffle pod slab construction up to class M classification (Note: raft slab to be only used at the discretion of M Homes P/L)' What does that mean? Does it mean that M has allocated a certain amount of money to cover your site cost? I thought M does not fork out any money when it comes to site cost. Interesting... Re: M3tricon and Termite Protection 9Sep 30, 2008 4:43 pm Just a little catch to the warranty and company M used.
We have been in our house now for 2 yrs in December. The system needs to be reprimed after the first 12 months, at a cost of about $400. The problem is that if you do major earth works around the pipes, you need to re prime them again at a cost of another $400. So We were told by the company that if we had the annual inspection, we could holdoff repriming untill all our landscaping was done, and not blow warranty, nor $400 each time. Adrian B Yes, neither is termite damage that is not covered by your house insurance. 3 6571 4 1830 Hi , I'm currently going through this now within the Whitehorse council which has a similar set of restrictions. We're having to make compromises with our floor plan due… 3 30668 |
