Meter box location - VIC

Greetings,

Trust everyone is healthy and keeping well.

Is there any regulation stipulated in Vic to say that the meter box should be located and that it should be accessible externally ?

I'm looking at building a new house and would really like to have the meter box in the garage for security reasons.

has anyone gone through a process which was met with resistance ?

Ours was supposed to go on the the external garage wall, but our block is 78m wide and the power came in on the other side of the house, so it had to go there.

Im pretty sure it must be located externally and theres a measurement (1.5m I thought) that it cant be further back from the front.

At pre contract review I always advise my clients not to have electricity box and smart meter 50 cm away fro their head when sleeping
