Building a Doulton in Geelong

There is a complete set of pics week by week, and back to the very beginning when we were looking for land!

It's on Instagram, "Doulton.on.Highton"

Seems like you are getting good progress. Well done !!

I can see you have a deep site cut at the front. We also have similar and just running out of ideas what landscaping should we do. Just want to make sure it doesn’t look too deep and then slopes/matches the porch.

What are you planning to do with regards to from landscaping ?
Not sure yet, will wait and see what it all looks like when finished. Probably some garden at the front and/or side, still looking at options for the other side and back.
Not a lot you can do with a 1.7M deep "pit" (easements)!

Bricks progressing!

Very windy last night and today, now they will need to fix the wrap! The insulation wasn't supposed to be installed yet!

Bricks should be finished tomorrow.
Hey Sparky! Followed on insta looks great.

Dying to see the kitchen and talk cabinets

Hi Sparky!, I'm Nish and have been looking at this thread as I am considering building the Doulton 50 as well. Your house like great and can't wait to see the internals once it reaches that stage. If you don't mind what was the total cost for your build and how much of it relates to upgrades. We've been provided with an estimate of 650k for our knockdown rebuild. thanks in advance!

First one completed!

Not sure what to do with this space!

Keen to know what you finally ended up doing in this space ?

Still deciding. House still under construction, but landscaping will happen early next year!

Looking great! Highton is a great spot, very hilly! You have done well with your block.

It wasn't the best one to work with, due to the double easements and slope which restricted the build size and options, but because the three houses at the back have flat(tish) rooves (plus the fact that the surrounding houses were already built), we have a decent view, so we added the balcony!

There were some newer blocks in the Wandana Heights estate, but without knowing what was going to be built next door or across the road, it's a hit and miss as to whether you will still have the same views later! And the slopes were just as bad or worse in the ones that were open to the best views (8M fall in 40M block) so we would had to do custom builder!

Hi Sparkyf I trust your build would be close to completion ? Any thoughts about front landscaping ? I can see you have a deep cut at front and wondering what are your thoughts for that. I have similar depths but not sure what to do there.
Hi guys,
We are a few weeks away from completion. Starting to plan some landscaping, lots if ideas, but not sure which way to go.

We are planning quite a few extra retaining walls everywhere, so we can level everything.

Your post has been very helpful. Hope you would have settle down in your new place.
Would like to seek your feedback as we are planning to go with Doulton 46 floor plan. We are building in Melbourne South East

The process was dragged out a bit due to covid delays and building restrictions! Our SS has been super helpful, even after the handover, with a few items to be fixed!
