Would you be able to share type of heating and cooling system younhave gone with? Re: Building a Doulton in Geelong 146Jul 13, 2021 10:33 pm $3K credit on the ducted gas heating, as we changed to Daikin FDYQN250 reverse cycle ducted 10 zone split system, about $25K. We are having a solar system to offset some of the running cost of that too! Your requirements might be different, which house and size are you planning? I am split between Doulton 50 and Astoria Grand from Carlisle. Thanks again. Re: Building a Doulton in Geelong 148Jul 13, 2021 10:42 pm I think it was Carlisle that said they couldn't build on our block, as the slope was greater than 1M! They have some nice houses too! They have some nice houses too! Doulton 50 is very tempting as its standard floor plan is very nice. Carlisle also good but may need alteration to suit us. Carlisle inclusions are neat and clear. Base price for Doulton is 480K. But I am concerned about addons on rop of it. Re: Building a Doulton in Geelong 150Jul 13, 2021 10:52 pm The staircase sold us on the Doulton, but we have easements and overlooking issues, so we couldn't build the 56. That in addition to a 3.2M corner to corner slope..... they even said no to extending the alfresco on the 50, as the soil thickness would be too much under the slab! But even after we had the site cut and levelled, both Carlisle and Porter Davis both said they don't do battleaxe blocks. Otherwise I might be living in a Carlisle Montpellier 51 like they have on display at Clyde North. Re: Building a Doulton in Geelong 152Jul 20, 2021 6:08 pm Was it due to limited access for construction? Re: Building a Doulton in Geelong 153Jul 21, 2021 4:26 pm All defects rectified (except three at this stage). One is for the termite barrier to be fixed where they penetrated with pipes. The others are an overhanging frame and misplaced pipe! But at least they are getting things done, not affected by lockdown! Here is the list currently: [/quote] Did you ever hear back from the metricon certifiers as to why they did not pick these defects in the first place? Re: Building a Doulton in Geelong 160Jul 23, 2021 7:39 pm No. It sort of indicates favouritism or company in the back pocket. They get paid regardless, so I guess if they don't find "issues" then it's less expenses for the builder. Maybe someone gets a kickback? Or maybe corruption is rife?
