Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 26, 2020 7:55 am Building a Bentleigh 38 North Metro VIC, and I had my "FINAL" inspection on the 30/01/2020. At the time, they hadn't finished the house, with a lot to do. Including the driveway, side concreting, flooring and other minor works. There was also major outstanding defects, like installation of items in wrong locations that had been outstanding (items on wrong roof sides) since Oct-Nov 2019. But I was legally obligated to attend the final inspection as I had received notification. Now 2 months on, and they have still yet to fix those major outstanding issues and the driveway and concreting is still to be done. It was compounded by the fact the current landlord wanted to sell so got an eviction notice to be out by 30/03/2020. Figuring we had 1-2 months from final, that it would be tight but do-able. Alas I messaged Metricon stating the situation, and is there anything I can do to ensure I can get into the house before 30th March. Unfortunately, they never responded to my repeated requests, and then when my Building Support Coordinator did, they give totally wrong timeline information and didn't seem to know my contract details and only stated that they have until the full contract to build. Not very helpful or supportive. The Site Manager, like always, said yeah yeah and hasn't done much. I've now put all into storage and living with family. Funny enough up til 2 days ago I hadn't gotten the FIXING invoice as they hadn't completed the house yet, but they had applied all my invoices to my account. So I had Final inspection on 30th Jan and only got FIXING invoice yesterday. Is this normal for them to push through the final stage, and for it to take so long after the inspection? 2 months, and it's still a lot for them to do. Does anyone have any suggestion on how to get it over the line? As the current 'customer' support staff I have do not seem to be too interesting in getting it over the line. Frustrated ... Re: Final Inspection & outstanding defects - Metricon Metro 2Mar 26, 2020 1:20 pm We were two months from inspection to handover, and it took them until the final couple of weeks to actually get stuff done. Not sure whats going on with them lately but the ability to get in touch with anyone has been terrible. I've been trying since Jan 6 and only got a response last week. Re: Final Inspection & outstanding defects - Metricon Metro 3Mar 26, 2020 2:10 pm Yeah, I've had multiple site staff throughout my build. 2 months is a long time, where are you building? Yeah, I rarely get any responses from staff and no options to get it escalated either. Re: Final Inspection & outstanding defects - Metricon Metro 5May 22, 2020 8:22 am Norfolk Does anyone know what Darbecca’s current prices are for Individual progress stage defect inspections and the discounted full package? Not sure why you picked this thread to ask that question, but I never used Darbecca, so wouldn't know. Though I'm still awaiting settlement for my build, and they're not fixing issues.
