Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 03, 2020 7:55 pm Hello, I recently had my house demolished. The majority of the rubble was removed, but when I inspected the site afterwards, I noticed that there was some debris essentially buried in the soil. These were things like some broken roof slates, pieces of wire, broken plastic pipes, and even bits of a toilet cistern. I don’t think it was a deliberate attempt to hide it, but rather, seemed like somewhat sloppy clean up. Also, the contract included "Levelling and Tracking of land from boundary to boundary" which I thought would mean smooth out all the divots left by the excavator but there are definite ridges. I’m less concerned with the site not being smooth but more concerned that the builders might be unhappy with finding debris once they eventually start. Are my expectations of a perfectly clear and smooth site after demolition a bit unrealistic, or should I insist the demolishers do a little more work to competely clear the site? Builders will be Metricon but yet to be appointed.
