Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 12, 2020 3:39 am I don't know if it's the same for others. But when I put "volume project builders" into a search, nothing comes up. Builders come up, yes, but nothing to indicate that they're volume project builders. I found this webpage, right: https://www.domain.com.au/advice/volume ... 23-h0xfzg/ That says, "most customers of volume builders choose their home in a display village, gravitating towards names they knew." ... ... What names that I know? What is he talking about...? How do I get a name if they're basically invisible? Is this something that actually exists? Is it something that's sort of like an untested theory? Or something that only exists in rare circumstances? Re: "Volume Project Builders" Do they exist? 3Mar 12, 2020 7:50 am Have you been to a display village? Most of the big names will be there so it’s a good place to start. Re: "Volume Project Builders" Do they exist? 4Mar 12, 2020 9:43 am Ah, so those are volume project builders? Like Metricon? Thanks, hey. I would never have guessed just by looking at their website. I found a list of houses on the Metricon website. But they don't actually give you a price tag? They only have, what I assume is some sort of model number? How come? Am I supposed to email them and ask which houses match my price range? I did find some prices, for something called "currently available display homes for sale", no idea what that entails. But... They're significantly more expensive than a custom builder. For a custom home, I've gotten an estimation of $120k for an 80 square metre home. But for Metricon, the cheapest one I can see, is $445k for a 25 square metre home. Almost 4 times the price, but for significantly less space? Am I missing something here? Re: "Volume Project Builders" Do they exist? 5Mar 12, 2020 9:54 am Yeah, it might be interesting to visit a display village. How crowded are they usually? It may not be a good idea currently. You know, with the virus and all. Re: "Volume Project Builders" Do they exist? 6Mar 12, 2020 10:45 am Wisdom homes start at $275k and $680k for a ready build home. Holy hell. That's WAY beyond what I can afford. Re: "Volume Project Builders" Do they exist? 7Mar 12, 2020 11:39 am Moromillas Radec Ah, so those are volume project builders? Like Metricon? Thanks, hey. Re: "Volume Project Builders" Do they exist? 8Mar 12, 2020 12:09 pm Here, I'll go get the page. Here it is. The very top one. https://www.metricon.com.au/services/di ... s-for-sale They list 25 under "Total area (sq)". So just "square". Hmm... I don't know. The block size is 576m2, so I doubt it would be bigger than that. Yet if you calculate 25 squared. You end up with 625. Yeah, also, all the homes I've seen have garages. Something I definitely don't want. Re: "Volume Project Builders" Do they exist? 9Mar 12, 2020 12:42 pm To work out the floor space you don't just square 25. A square is about 9.3 square metres. A 25 square home would be a little over 230 square metres. For what you want you don't want a volume builder. You want a small kit home, or a granny flat. Re: "Volume Project Builders" Do they exist? 10Mar 12, 2020 1:03 pm You my friend are very confused. You have a 576m2 block of land? Do you know what size house you are looking for? What budget did you have in mind? https://www.convertunits.com/from/squares/to/square+meters Re: "Volume Project Builders" Do they exist? 11Mar 12, 2020 1:04 pm I found this here: https://www.convertunits.com/info/squares Looks like a completely new measurement I've not seen before. lol I don't understand why they don't just use squared metres and save everyone the trouble. Re: "Volume Project Builders" Do they exist? 12Mar 12, 2020 1:05 pm What? No, that's not my block of land. That was on the Metricon site. Re: "Volume Project Builders" Do they exist? 13Mar 12, 2020 2:26 pm I have no idea why all the eastern states builders use a square when describing house size. It's an old imperial measure. Last time I checked we used the metric system. Houses are and should be measured M². Now if you excuse me I'm just off down the shops to buy a pound of butter and a pint of milk.😉 Accessible Carpentry & Cabinets accessiblecarpentry@gmail.com accessiblecarpentry.com.au https://www.facebook.com/pages/Accessible-Carpentry-Cabinets/583314911709039 go upvc window frames ensure insulation under colorbond. not just sarking, lighter color roof also not sure if you have seen this viewtopic.php?t=5823 last couple of pages… 4 110570 Hi, Seeking volume or semi-custom builder in victoria(east), which have existing double story wide floor plans.
