PCI and Handover

Hi Everyone,

I am building a house in QLD. My practical completion inspection is done. Supervisor and I have agreed on a defect list. I got a signed copy of it. I also got a professional building inspection done and forwarded the report to the supervisor.
Should the builder be signing the defect report from the building inspector too?

There are some defects which have come up while the tradies were finishing the remaining work. How should I get the builder agree to fix those defects?

Also is it alright to make the final invoice payment as a cheque and submit on handover day? The builder is wanting all payments to be cleared before handing the keys.

Its like they want me to trust them, but not the same in return.

Thank you
