Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 01, 2020 9:37 pm Hi everyone Just want to know if anyone have DG windows with low E glass. How do you find it? Does low e glass makes different to clarity of glass or make it blurry when looking out side. I want to know If it impacts on your views when looking out. I need to decide if better to go just DG or it’s good to have low e. Thanks in advance if someone can share their experience. Re: Double glaze windows with Low e glass 2Mar 01, 2020 10:29 pm We have lightbridge glass, haven’t noticed any blurring. Re: Double glaze windows with Low e glass 4Mar 02, 2020 4:48 pm We have Low e glass (manufactured by Viridian) on our double set of sliding doors. It is a clear glass but I think there is the slightest grey tinge to it when compared to an adjacent window. Does it effect the outside view when you are looking out from inside the house? As I heard it gives milky look on a glass. I wouldn’t say milky, perhaps a slight haze is a better description, it’s not crystal clear compared to ordinary glass. Having said that, if you didn’t know it had a different type of glass, I don’t think anyone would even realise the difference. Re: Double glaze windows with Low e glass 8Mar 03, 2020 4:12 pm We’ve only been in our house for 3 weeks and had no really hot weather in that time so difficult to tell. But as we have fantastic rural views out of these windows and are not planning any window coverings it was a requirement for us to install low e glass in order to meet the 6* energy rating required here in SA. What type of low-e coating exactly? To keep the heat from the sun out, or keep your winter heating in? Low SHCG, to keep heat from the direct sun out, or high SHGC, to let it in? Different glazing solutions should be used for different orientations. Re: Double glaze windows with Low e glass 11Mar 11, 2020 11:00 pm ddarroch Which direction does the glazing face?
