Sometimes I wonder whether base price figures are just bait advertising, and something the regulators should seriously look at. Either that or the builders should build to that price.
I think this forum is the perfect example of why builders can't build to a base price. Everyone has a different idea of what finished is.Jo

We selected window furnishings at the selection centre and they were fitted before handover, while others are happy to hang Thomas The Tank Engine sheets for a few months. We also got a driveway.
The only thing I consider unneccessary before handover is landscaping.
Also consider site costs as previously mentioned HappyHome, ours increased slightly simply because we have a large block and the sewer/stormwater had to be run further. We also had a significant (10% or so) mark-up for building in a regional area.
I don't believe there is ever a basic price.
