Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 26, 2008 9:44 pm Hi guys,
After reading through this site for hours on end I thought I would start our building journey thread! We are building our first home in Perth, so the stage we are at.... have chosen our builder & plans, and are currently having our soil testing done before our official plans & contract will be drawn. But thought I would start sharing because we are excited!! Here are our plans....took several changes but this is our final decision (no it really is!) We fell in love with this display home instantly & our changes were closing in the lounge & study and changing the WIR/ensuite a little bit. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ So we have been researching our endless colour choices but are a bit stuck on our front elevation colours! It's so hard to choose when you can't see the finished product before hand! Here is a photoshop version a homeone member did for me in another post. http://i538.photobucket.com/albums/ff346/zozzles23/elevationidea.jpg We are thinking of also rendering the 2nd from left section (to right and below plants in pic) the same as the porch. or perhaps a different colour.... any ideas anyone????? We are open to any suggestions as we are finding it quite difficult. and our gutters will be a dark colour also. And there is a small window at the top of left section that will obviously be black frames aswell. Feel free to throw any suggestions at us! And as we progress further with our other selections I will be sure to share with you guys! I have really enjoyed reading other people's posts and the suggestions everyone makes. I am SO glad to have found this site, it is invaluable! Zoe Re: Our Building Journey: Very early days 2Sep 26, 2008 9:55 pm I love your floorplan. Except for the minor bedroom wardrobes, they look really small, especially bed 3.
But everything else is great! Jo I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Our Building Journey: Very early days 3Sep 26, 2008 10:02 pm hey zozzles I like your floorplan too, looks nice and spacious. Personally I like the laundry a bit closer to the kitchen than that, but not everyone does!
I like your facade exactly the way it is; I wouldn't change that bit of render, it looks gorgeous. Re: Our Building Journey: Very early days 4Sep 26, 2008 10:04 pm Hi Zoe, yes you are lucky you found this site early, I unfortunately did not and am practically insane as a result
I love your house and think the way they have the colours in the drawing is very balanced. You could do your letterbox in the same colour as the porch colour, but I like it as it is without adding more colours. Re: Our Building Journey: Very early days 6Sep 26, 2008 10:53 pm Well done Judie! You're so generous with your time.
Zoe, what about rendering the first section instead of the second? It doesn't look quite right to me.... but externals are most certainly not my forte! Jo I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Our Building Journey: Very early days 7Sep 26, 2008 11:29 pm Yep that was what I was thinking!!! but now I look at it, joles I think you are right.... it doesnt quite look right? The colours here aren't exaclty what we are thinking, but it gives us a better idea to see those sections shaded. Probably thinking more of a burgendy type deep colour? and in the picture that front rendered section they have in the garden area isnt in our plan.
geeeez it's so hard.... colour choices are hurting my brain, im even dreaming about it!! Our other idea is to use some austral lite-stone in tiger sand or calcite blend in the second section ( thats what they have used in the display version in a grey colour) HOWEVER....that choice will depend on budget!! Jo Doesn't matter to me..... so long as mine in the master bedroom is appropriately sized Re: Our Building Journey: Very early days 10Sep 27, 2008 8:01 am nice floor plans! looks like there is lots of storage throughout the house
Re the render...i prob won't render that second part at all...cos it makes it look like u were trying too hard to be symmetrical....hhehe..like skip render, render, skip render, render...if that makes sense i think the orig pic looks the best good luck, and keep us posted with pics, we love pics! hehe Re: Our Building Journey: Very early days 11Sep 27, 2008 6:36 pm Judie,
Absolutely wonderful work. So life like. Zozzles23, Floor plan looks great. Just need to take necessary precautions for the planter area outside the ensuite so that water doesn't cause long-term damage to the house. Seen it plenty of times. Chris Re: Our Building Journey: Very early days 12Sep 27, 2008 11:42 pm Thanks Judie! I like the burgundy type colour better than the purple, think we will probably go for something like that for the porch section.
Thanks for the tip Chris about the planter!!! Something I probably wouldn't of thought of! 8 6138 I'll be here once a week, lets make that Mondays.
