Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 15, 2020 8:04 am Hi there We are going to build soon in Goldcoast area and I am looking for some advice regarding concrete pool setup I have 2 quotes - one of them is suggesting a Cartridge filtration (they say it is easy to clean - take it out and 2 3 minutes wash it, it seems to simple but probably is) - the second quote suggested an in-ground filtration (something to do with sand filtration) If you have experience with this sort of things I would appreciate some guidance. If you have built and used someone reliable or had a good experience with a good supplier please share it here as it will help me and others reading this. Re: New Pool Cartridge or in-ground filtration 3Jan 16, 2020 4:05 am Cartridges are generally found on older pools. Sand filters are more common these days. As for cleaning the filter itself - a sand filter doesn’t need cleaning per say. Only a backwash every now and then. And replacing the media (sand) every 5-10 years depending on your pool (how dirty it gets). I’ve had both over the years and for ease I don’t think you can compare the two. Sand filter would be my choice over and over again unless the technology in cartridges has changed.
