Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 26, 2008 2:19 pm Hi there,
I'm from Adelaide and am planning on building a courtyard home through them. Has anyone built with Rossdale Homes in South Australia? If so, are there any regrets? How was the experience? There isn't many reviews on them online, so any thoughts and feedback (good and bad) would be much appreciated. THANKS! Re: Anyone out there building with 'Rossdale Homes'?? 2Sep 26, 2008 9:10 pm We almost built with them, but ran out of time to decide. They offer a fixed price for footings so you are paying more up front to cover their risk. If we were building again they would be on the short list. They seem to above the first buyer level builders in quality. Still go to their display homes for colour scheme ideas

In the price guide i got, it states the following are: Site identification survey. Based on a level clean building allotment. 100 mm concrete slab, reinforced with F 72 B.H.P. mesh. 450 x 200 mm beams with 2 x Y16 steel reinforcing rods. Is this what you mean by the above being offered as a fixed price? But then there is an additional footings cost of $10,000 for example for a "M" classification soil. Shouldn't this be included as well?? Re: Anyone out there building with 'Rossdale Homes'?? 4Oct 01, 2008 1:22 pm I did and I wouldn't again.
However my situation was a bit different. I built in a new complex, house & land package (it was a special deal). Was told by the salesperson absolutely no changes (ie no upgrading of appliances) and found out that others were allowed to. I did have a good experience with the supervisor and the customer service consultant / colour consultant - without her I would be going away from Rossdale extremly angry. She did her very best to resolve any issues. The quality of the build is okay (I've seen better), but since I know people in the industry I wasn't expecting anything fabulous. Don't know if this helps you or not. I have heard okay things about fairmont and mccracken. Definately don't go with stirling if that was one of your options, I know quite a few people who are very unhappy. Re: Anyone out there building with 'Rossdale Homes'?? 5Oct 01, 2008 4:27 pm We're building with McCrackens, I thought they mainly did country areas though.
No real dramas and house nearly finished. Bit slow though - started in Feb and handover (at this stage) will be mid October. Massive building boom here in Whyalla, on the back of the mining boom, so this probably affects all builders here. A mate of mine built with fairmont homes, and he was pretty happy with the process, although I should admit he took everything off the plan and didnt make any adjustments (the perfect customer ??) Why are priates scary ? Because they yaargh.. Wish you all the best. Once you signed the contract, they will find millions excuses to charge you. And have seen their sites unfinished for a long time. 4 24807 4 14255 Unless there is something in special conditions the builder does not have to give you timeline.
