Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 28, 2006 10:04 pm Hi all
This is just a general question for anyone who wishes to discuss! The last 2 times I have built the very "in" thing in terms of internal paint choice was a light colour throughout with feature walls in contrasting colours where desired. Both houses I had a cream main colur and feature walls in the lounge (burgundy) and family room (dark blue). Is this still the way that people are tending to go with the internal paint or a feature walls out of fashion? The reason I ask is that I notice alot of display homes these days have a darker main colour throughout without the feature walls. Or some have a complete room such as a lounge or bedroom painted in a darker contrasting colour rather than one wall. And while on the subject of internal colours des anyone have any opinions on the Dulux suede effects paint range? Does it look good? If so, just as a feature wall or an entire room? I'm just interested as I have decided I would like something different than the cream with the feature walls in this next house!! Its a good excuse to get some new furniture as well!! Have a lovely night Nat Re: Feature Walls Still Popular? 2Dec 28, 2006 10:30 pm The lovely Michelle will give you all the advice you could possibly need on colours and what goes with what...she probably has better taste and ideas about fashions than anyone else on here. But I will say one thing from my own experience. Fashions come and go...fashion isn't necessarily good taste (Remember safari suits ) I have found much greater satisfaction in doing what works for me. We all have different tastes, thank goodness, and painting a wall, or whatever else, in a colour that you like, will give you greater pleasure than following a fashion that may have changed in six months time. Good taste never goes out of fashion and if you redecorate tastefully, in a colour that suits you, it will always be fashionable. If all you can see are obstacles, you have lost sight of the goals Re: Feature Walls Still Popular? 3Dec 29, 2006 3:15 pm Hi Nat….
And thank you Neil!!! How nice. Nat has already had advice from me, so I think I will sit back and watch the general discussion on this post, which is a good question by the way. Neil has summed it up; it really is a personal choice, good advice Neil. And like you said Michelle I'm not after any specific colour ideas I just posted it as general query to see what people's opinions/ideas are on this matter!! Re: Feature Walls Still Popular? 5Jan 21, 2007 12:40 am Hi Perthgirl. other half is a painter and suggests silk effects instead of suede as it looks the same but is more durable and use as a feature wall only and never on a window wall.
Dark colours suit larger houses where as light colours suit smaller homes but either way with one feature wall and the right colours you can make the house or rooms look bigger. And yes feature walls are still very much in fashion hmmm id assume youll get hit with the "natural product therefore variation in colour etc" excuse. How bad are we talking? One could argue that if none of the displays or… 3 1849 Render your bathroom walls, two opinions versus the one, makes you wonder. 3 4203 The spacing of the studs looks pretty large especially for a load bearing wall. 3 8212 |
