How did you compromise by going 100% her way?
Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Roof - colour bond Vs Tiles? 21Jan 19, 2020 7:28 pm GAZZABABY We are starting our first build very soon. I wanted to go colorbond, but the partner wanted tiles and so we compromised and decided on tiles. But after reading this idk if i actually want to go tiles now. I didnt realise tile cracking and the risk of leaking ceilings (and the subsequent repair of said ceilings) was so common. i'm really confused now :S How did you compromise by going 100% her way? Re: Roof - colour bond Vs Tiles? 22Jan 19, 2020 7:35 pm Tradies walking on roofs , some of which are big guys and regularly break tiles in which not all will say,u got some spare tiles as I broke a few, where colourbond is easy to see where to walk on screw lines and it doesn't crack or move, also feel it is more forgiving during installation as u don't have bad mortar mix problems falling out all too soon ,thus leaking roof can follow. It’s stronger if tradies have to walk on your roof 2. Colorbond will last longer as it’s not prone to cracks and rarely leaks 3. You can hear the rain because why wouldn’t you want to fall asleep listening to rain that’s the main reason I chose it in my home 4. It’s extremely light weight compared to roof tiles 5. It’s harder to break in! It only takes some one to lift a few roof tiles and find the man hole to break in to a house. Re: Roof - colour bond Vs Tiles? 31May 19, 2020 1:13 pm GAZZABABY We are starting our first build very soon. I wanted to go colorbond, but the partner wanted tiles and so we compromised and decided on tiles. But after reading this idk if i actually want to go tiles now. I didnt realise tile cracking and the risk of leaking ceilings (and the subsequent repair of said ceilings) was so common. i'm really confused now :S what did you end up going with, Im so confused too. Hubby wants tile and i want colorbond, just because i like the sound of the rain. Re: Roof - colour bond Vs Tiles? 39Jul 12, 2020 8:31 pm ConfusedSoul Hi Murtaza.sh, how much did you pay for your Anticon R3.5 insulation? I am bit worried about the cost. My Anticon is R1.3 from Bradford https://www.bradfordinsulation.com.au/home-insulation/roofing/anticon for colorbond roof and the cost for the Anticon blanket is $3000 for a 32 Sq house.
