Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 30, 2019 10:00 pm Hi all We are currently at lock up stage for our build. Our contract includes external painting, plus internal doors, ceilings and cornice but not internal wall paint as have elected to organise our own internal paint - a family member is a registered painter. We would like to use the Christmas shutdown period to gain access and apply the undercoat sealer, but did not think to have this included as a condition of our contract. We also want to access the build later to apply the 2 top coats prior to flooring. Has anyone done this with builder approval? Or are we likely to come up against barriers to access? Re: Own internal painter - WA 2Dec 01, 2019 7:41 am No one here knows your builder, you need to communicate with your builder. It would be a very lenient builder who allowed unrestricted and unsupervised access to their building site. 3in1 Supadiverta. Rainwater Harvesting Best Practice using syphonic drainage. Re: Own internal painter - WA 3Dec 05, 2019 8:23 pm From my experience in new builds for the last 12 years, my opinion, it will be impossible. Normally the owner painter is only allowed access after handover. I have seen exceptions to this and if you have a good relationship with your supervisor you might be able to get in straight after the tiler or even before the tiler if you don't hold up the other trades. I have built three houses myself and on only one build was I able to work well with the builder. Do like I did and sneak in and do it without telling them. Hi Mofflepop, I would recommend finding a building designer to prepare plans, they should design to your specified budget. The benefit is you can tender the project out… 9 20417 Thanks. Yeh ideally that would have been good, but have progressed too far now. Hoping some well placed internal walls fixed up into the battens will provide some… 2 5405 Thank you alexp79 and gommeqld for your advice, that's very helpful, thanks 3 7937 |
