Electrician has installed all light switches in a horizontal landscape layout and not a portrait orientation. Should we ask to change this? When we noticed and asked they said they have never done them any other way. When we asked an electrician we know they said they have only seen this done a few times. Yes power-points are normally landscape but light switches portrait. Do we change them or not? Re: light switch orientation: landscape or portrait? 2Dec 23, 2020 5:51 am never thought about it before, another trap for new home buyers, you now need to specify orientation i have only seen light switches horizontal except for architrave switches Re: light switch orientation: landscape or portrait? 3Dec 23, 2020 9:10 am aussieta never thought about it before, another trap for new home buyers, you now need to specify orientation i have only seen light switches horizontal except for architrave switches Would have thought light switches are verticle. Power points horizontal. I have put power verticle for wall mounted TV makes it easier to get to the plugs and switches Re: light switch orientation: landscape or portrait? 4Dec 23, 2020 11:00 am Robbris aussieta never thought about it before, another trap for new home buyers, you now need to specify orientation i have only seen light switches horizontal except for architrave switches Would have thought light switches are verticle. Re: light switch orientation: landscape or portrait? 6Jan 16, 2021 8:09 pm No not sheeted yet. I don't think I really mind which way, except for bedrooms that have fans in them. I'm assuming that the switches/plates for them are all designed for vertical/portrait. Re: light switch orientation: landscape or portrait? 7Jan 16, 2021 8:41 pm If your lights are downlights, maybe in the future, you would want to swap to smart downlight + sensor😉 Then the switch layout won't matter anymore, as you will barely use them. I never thought about it before, it doesn't really bother me. I'm more annoyed by stupid things I've noticed in our house like a pair of switches where the left switch turns on the right half of the room... and when you have two switches at either end of the room and they're opposite so you can't have both switches off when the light is off... LOL These things are probably easily fixed and I will ask our electrician next time he comes to install some new pendants. Any electricians here please help. 1) Will the Fan need separate switch to ON/OFF/Speed eventhough it comes with Remote 2) how about… 0 1215 0 606 Landscape Design Parramatta We have been doing a large amount of landscape design work in Sydney… 0 3 |
