Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 25, 2019 8:09 pm Hi, I really need some help with exterior colour selections as I am not sure if my current colour selection will look good. The colours that I have chosen are: Main render - Taubmans Tahira white Second render for two walls (one on the front and second on the side facing street) - shale grey Cement sheet parapet border at the top (approx. 1 metre in height, surrounding three sides of the house except at the back) - Oil shale Garage and main door - shale grey I am bit nervous that Tahira white might be too white with lot of glare especially from the backyard which is North and West facing. The house front is south east facing. The second set of colours that I am thinking are - Main render - surfmist Two feature walls - shale grey Garage and door - basalt Top cement sheeting - basalt I believe the second option will give a good contrasting effect with darker garage and main door, but not sure if I should change main render from Tahira white to surfmist? Roof, gutters, windows are all monument and can not be changed as these are being installed right now. It would be great if you can help me please, I am totally confused! Thank you so much, Moh Re: Colour selection 2Nov 26, 2019 9:38 am ok Your house's orientation will probably help you choose here. What direction does it face? As our front faces west, we were told to keep darker colours lower (they will fade over time and easier to repaint at ground level, rather than up ladders) We have shale grey too. Love Bassalt. Secondly, drive around your suburb. What do you like? What do you dislike? What looks odd? Lighter colours might work well, but get a bit "lost". The darker might provide the impact and "wow factor". hope that helps https://thomasarcherbuild.blogspot.com/p/blog-page.html - Thomas Archer Homes - Custom Nouveau 41 Re: Colour selection 3Nov 26, 2019 9:59 pm Blacktea2sugars ok Your house's orientation will probably help you choose here. I am inclining towards changing garage and main door colour from shale grey to basalt. Thinking of changing the top parapet cement sheeting border colour to basalt as well to go with garage. I got a colour sample of it today and it looks great. I will keep the two feature walls render as shale grey. But still deciding on the main render colour, i.e. if I should keep it as Tahira White or change it to Surfmist? π€ Tahira White might be too bright but might look better with basalt and shale grey? Thanks! Hi there, we have classic cream gutters, fasciaβs, roller door and undercover carport. We are are going to paint the roof a terracotta orange colour.
