Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 25, 2008 4:13 pm Hi,
Just wondering if you's know or have copies of comprehensive books, guides or checklists for me to perform on my own house? Thinking at the moment, of reading whatever documentation and possibly heading out to Dymocks or something and picking up a book so that I can continually inspect and know what to watch out for during each weekly visit I make. I am still very inclined to get an independent house inspector to check out the house at least twice, but I if know what to look for I believe I could possibly be more thorough. I've seen that Google has two listed in their records, so may try hunting them down or something. Trevor Re: House Inspectors' Book/Guide/Checklist? 2Sep 25, 2008 4:21 pm hi trevor,

here's the link sunchaser was referring to http://www.mbansw.asn.au/images/users/1 ... rances.pdf and I'd add http://www.concrete.net.au/ and check out the Guide to Residential Floors and the Guide to Concrete in Housing, they really are the best references around to help the lay-person around the mystery of slab design. and www.thinkbrick.com.au have a look at the Cleaning Concrete Masonry for recommendations on cleaning, working out efflorescence issues and those nasty brown marks. Manual 10 - Construction Guidelines for Clay Masonry is an easy to understand guide on brick construction, joint types, tolerances, damp courses, and a whole bunch more. ....and most important ask your H1Homies lots of questions..... Re: House Inspectors' Book/Guide/Checklist? 5Sep 26, 2008 10:21 am Spend a few hours, do a few searches in this forum and look at all those photos and complaints about mistakes builders made, problems found during inspection/handover, downpipes been placed in wrong location, bad brick work, mortar problem, ...etc. You will pick up a lot of info too!

My question is should we employ a independent building inspector to come in and… 0 3939 That is a really good attitude Akin to you catch more flies with honey than vinegar. I do enjoy watching that tik tok inspector from Victoria but he does go a little… 12 72382 If you are in Victoria you have a statutory right to your own building inspector regardless of builder's consent. No negotiations are required. However the builder will… 1 1408 |
