Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 25, 2008 2:16 pm We have just bought a block of land in Buderim in the Sunshine Coast and are trying to find a builder that can design and build a house to suit the sloping nature of the block.
We want a block and rendered two storey home (probably a split slab) and have spoken to a few builders and the prices vary so much. Also, as this is the first home we have built and we work away we need someone with good communication. From all the builders we have spoken to, we have narrowed it down to Australian Independent Builders, Perry Homes, Dwyer Quality Homes Royce Beale Builder and Brad McLachlan to name a few. Can someone please tell me if you have used any of these builders before or have a builder that they can recommend???? Re: Does anyone know a good builder in the Sunshine Coast 2Sep 25, 2008 6:01 pm Hi cdgibbins, and welcome to the forum, You will find lots of information by using the search button, just type in each builder and see what comes up.
All I can tell you from personal experience is that we have had some serious problems with PHms, and as yet they seem to be unresolved. GJ seem to be quick from what ive seen so far, not sure about contract trickery with them though. Re: Does anyone know a good builder in the Sunshine Coast 3Sep 25, 2008 10:31 pm A search will certainly bring you loads of reading material, particularly Brad Mac. I don't think there is such a thing as the 'perfect builder' all seem to have issues, it's a very stressful experience all in all. We're living in Hong Kong and doing it from a distance (also building on Sunshine Coast) and have gone with Perrys. All I can tell you is that when we were researching Perrys have a good rep with quality and after sales, plus 20 year structural guarantee. Their communication and Head office staff is shocking though and our start was delayed by 2months+ due to their incompetence. We know a number of people that have built with them and despite varying problems the end product has been of high quality and of people we know they have resolved any issues relating to building problems. If you are going to be away just bear in mind that whoever you choose you need to really 'keep on top of them' and assume nothing Good luck. I love Buderim by the way, my son was born there and if we hadn't been looking for acreage I would definitely have looked at building there. Re: Does anyone know a good builder in the Sunshine Coast 4Oct 11, 2008 11:22 am We haven't used them ourselves, but Instyle Living is an independant builder (in Buderim) that has been recommended to us by a very credible source. The man to talk to is Troy. I hope this helps.
Oh, if it helps we are in a similar situation. Also looking at similar builders such as Perry, etc. Re: Does anyone know a good builder in the Sunshine Coast 5Oct 12, 2008 8:30 am hi have you talked to miller they build to suit the block , Rob I think his name is at pergian springs we just signed with another builder and are sorry we went that way. Finding a builder to suit the block is impossible and they do. also have been on the coast for ever it is a personal service and i think you may need that they only do 30 homes a year not 100's like most others Re: Does anyone know a good builder in the Sunshine Coast 7Oct 19, 2008 6:45 am You could try Platinum Homes. He (Scott) is an independent builder who does beautiful homes.
