Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 17, 2019 6:54 am Has anyone had windows installed in their new build that have scratches (and even dents) on some of the aluminium frames and if so, whether the builder was able to repair them later in the build? We have scratches on our sliding door frames and also on two windows at the front of the house, all which we have pointed out in an email (with photos) to the builder. We have not had an adequate response as to how these will be fixed other than a general assurance it will be addressed in the 2nd fix. We assume the window frames are powder coated during manufacture so wondering how the scratches can be touched up without simply being painted over by a brush (which is unacceptable). The windows are not yet bricked in so believe replacement of the windows is still possible at this stage, but don’t believe the builder will consider this is necessary. Any suggestions? They did this on an area of door track they damaged too. Needless to say after two uses of the door the paint scratched right off. I would say the dented frames at a minimum should all be replaced M Y C U S T O M C O R A L B R O N T E 43 ...............Kitchen! 16 Nov 2016 https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=79581 Re: Scratched window frames 5Nov 18, 2019 6:43 am MrsJM Yours are a lot worse than mine were in places - but in my experience all that was done was that the window company cane out and spray painted the effected areas. Ironically, we only realised yesterday that two sets of 5m wide glass sliding doors have been fitted in the wrong rooms. To meet the 6 star energy assessment we had to have smart low e-glass fitted to our family room sliding doors, costing us an additional $1,100. Now we discover that those door were fitted to our dining / alfresco area by mistake. So yet another stuff up by the window installers. Can’t wait to see what the builders response to this is. For your reference Performance Labels: Window assemblies in housing, except timber windows, must be labelled so the label can be seen when it is in situ. For timber… 6 7680 That sucks! Hope it all works out. Good to move away from steel anyway for all your reasons, but it's also thermally poor. 16 17775 |
