Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 25, 2008 10:26 am Hello everyone!
After much deliberation we are going from building The Larne with Urban Edge to now thinking about the Promenade with Boutique Homes. The Promenade is a much more classic home with a few little quirks, so I think will change with us over the years as our family gets older yet keep me interested! We had a bit of a run-in with the Sales guy at UE after ensuring us they would build on our block to being told several weeks (and deposit) down the line later that they wouldn't (this was not determined after soil tests - it was simply out of the blue - site unseen!). Anyway, we are currently having our block cut due to the fall and to give us more scope with builders. In discussions with Boutique I have been absolutely over the moon with their professionalism, speed of response and knowledge, but then I haven't actually built with them! I'd love any feedback heard around the traps or experiences in dealing with them please! Thank you! Elizabeth Hi Elizabeth, I haven't had direct experience with them, but also found their sales staff to be really great. They were very helpful when we were looking at their designs and seem very open to floorplan changes etc. Best of luck! Almost finished building a Manhattan with them. We had a very difficult block (inner suburbs, narrow, on tram lines, with title problems, in a flood overlay) which added significantly to our costs. We've found them to be very flexible in terms of design (our SS told our SC on site that what we're building is NOT a Manhattan, as it's been changed so much). We've changed most things, including the external cladding, roof, insulation, layout, added extensions to the side, double glazing etc etc. Generally, pretty happy with things. Excellent SC at Caroline Springs, really good SS (this is crucial, I think) and variable CSCs (we've had 3 along the way, and a bit hit and miss). They are not perfect, and we've kept a pretty close watch on what has been happening. However, they are willing to work with us, even up to the point of allowing variations during the build. Have a look at the "Surfmist Roof" thread for some photos of what we've got... I guess God didn't use subbies... I appreciate any feedback at any stage of dealing with Boutique, so appreciate your time too Damo! Liz You have mandatory building inspections and privately engaged building inspections. The difference between the two comes down to inspecting the building so it's safe and… 3 18070 10 15753 |
