Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 31, 2019 11:48 am Hi everyone, We recently built a single storey house and we have shocking discolouration of the brickwork. Apparently the brick is defective. They have tried many different ways to ‘clean’ the bricks and we are now looking at knocking down the bricks and re-bricking however we are living in the house. Has anyone been through this sort of situation before? Are there any particular questions or things I should put in writing with the builder before it goes ahead. Thanks! Re: Brick discolouration 2Oct 31, 2019 9:07 pm Hi Renfar, Is the brick a dark colour? What is the builder saying? Could you post some pictures? Sorry for the 100 questions haha! Builder is shifting blame to brick company who seem to be taking responsibility. Any ideas about questions I should pose re re-brick? I will take and post some photos. Thanks! Re: Brick discolouration 4Nov 01, 2019 4:32 pm Hi Renfar, Awesome send me a few photos! If they are taking the whole wall down you should be fine, it will just be the eaves you have to inspect thoroughly. If they are taking a few bricks here and a few bricks there (called keying out brick work) its a completely different story shoot me some photos and I'll check it out. So glad to hear the brick company are taking responsibility! I wonder how they will accommodate you while the brick work is being replaced?
