Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 10, 2017 9:48 pm Hi Guys,
Thought it was time to start my own thread! I have noticed that there aren't a lot of people on here who have built through Dixon Homes so I am hoping that if it only helps one person than I've done my duty We are first home owners building with Dixon Homes in the beautiful Jimboomba Woods estate. We looked in a few estates for the perfect block, but the feeling of being home never left each time we drove through Jimboomba Woods. So alas this is where we are calling home We are on quite a tight budget (like a lot of people) so we are making the most of what we have! Our time line so far is as follows: October 2016 - went to look at a block but when we got there it had been taken off the market, we were shown one that had just come back on the market and turns out that it was the one that was meant to be 5th November - placed deposit on block 26th November - signed contract for Block 26th November - went and saw Dixon to see what we could do as the original house plan that we had chased was a little too expensive now 24th December - Colour Selection (OMG that was exciting!!!!) 28th January 2017 - Signed our house contract (FINALLY!) 15th February - Loan documents submitted to the bank (crossed everything!!) 17th February - FINANCE APPROVAL!!!!!! (2 days!!!! I was expecting it to take a week, if not longer) 17th March - Settlement day Land is officially ours! 22nd March - Bank sends through Commencement to build letter 27th March - Land is cut! That was super quick and exciting! 7th April - Footings poured! Happy birthday to my Hubby! (I told everyone that was his birthday present ) It makes the house look small though…. Hubby says it's big enough 21st April - slab prepped & boxed 22nd April - slab poured 29th April - Frame 11th May - Guttering done & windows delivered 15th May - Plumbing started 16th May - Roof done 17-18th May - Electrical rough in Pics to follow when I figure out how to do that Re: First Home :) Building with Dixon Homes 2Apr 10, 2017 11:44 pm Good on you for starting a thread fleabee, your time line is great, Dixon have been super speedy. Very much looking forward to following along. I find the easiest way to add pics is to down load the app Tapatalk, just select home one and you can upload photos straight from your phones photo library. Looking forward to seeing those pics too Re: First Home :) Building with Dixon Homes 3Apr 11, 2017 8:31 pm oh awesome!!! I'll download the app now so I can add some pics Thanks Tribe! Re: First Home :) Building with Dixon Homes 7Apr 11, 2017 9:22 pm Oh wow fleabee your a photo posting pro now!! Your block is just lovely, I've been down in their before and it's very peaceful. Great progress you have too, not long till your slab will be boxed up, great to see that meter box in situ too. I'm so very jealous of your sandy soil Re: First Home :) Building with Dixon Homes 9Apr 11, 2017 9:28 pm Tribe7 Oh wow fleabee your a photo posting pro now!! Your block is just lovely, I've been down in their before and it's very peaceful. Great progress you have too, not long till your slab will be boxed up, great to see that meter box in situ too. I'm so very jealous of your sandy soil Thanks Tribe our block does have a little slope as it goes to the back but we absolutely love it PMSL as soon as it put one on I was like right let's do more I probably take too many pics when I'm there but atleast we have something to look back on. Our soil came back as an M so I was super happy with that! I'm hoping it'll be boxed up before Easter 🤞 Re: First Home :) Building with Dixon Homes 10Apr 11, 2017 9:32 pm Tribe7 Any colour selection pics to post? I'm sure I have a couple somewhere!!! Re: First Home :) Building with Dixon Homes 11Apr 11, 2017 9:41 pm WOW fleabee86 your running really fast with your build. We might finish around the same time. Our slab was done yesterday, our frames are on site minus roof trusses and chippies to start on Thursday. Mind you I can't see them starting a day before the long weekend. First Home :) Building with Dixon Homes 12Apr 11, 2017 9:42 pm Our block has slope too, it's a good thing with drainage to be honest. Love all the trees in the back ground. Bahahhaha the more pics the merrier. It's so helpful to have photos and a time line, I've looked back on ours so many times for references. I think at one stage I had more photos on my phone of the house than my kids whoops. Oh seriously, your so damn lucky to have a M, I would honestly beg, pleade and prey to have a m, ours is a E. One of the reasons we avoided project builders, we got one quote for nearly $48k in site costs Re: First Home :) Building with Dixon Homes 13Apr 11, 2017 9:48 pm Awesome progress! Awesome house as well. I'm sure you will love it! How big is your block? Will you have to do a lot of mowing!? I hate mowing, partly reason why I argued for a town block rather than an acreage block. (The thread, that is. Hopefully not the house...) I laughed at your hate for mowing, Mr T just brought a brand new zero turn mower and he is pining to go mow our lawns . Re: First Home :) Building with Dixon Homes 17Apr 12, 2017 6:35 am HENRY WOW fleabee86 your running really fast with your build. We might finish around the same time. We have been given a practical completion date of the 19th October. I am hoping and praying it is before that though Keeping everything crossed that you have action before the long weekend can't wait to see your pics when it is up Re: First Home :) Building with Dixon Homes 18Apr 12, 2017 6:40 am Tribe7 Our block has slope too, it's a good thing with drainage to be honest. I'm not too sure what other builders class as site costs but ours came to $23K. But that's including the HSTP & water connection fees etc! I'm still gob smacked at that price PMSL I think I currently have more land pics ATM on my phone! It was bound to happen though Re: First Home :) Building with Dixon Homes 19Apr 12, 2017 6:45 am ruraldoc Awesome progress! Awesome house as well. I'm sure you will love it! How big is your block? Will you have to do a lot of mowing!? I hate mowing, partly reason why I argued for a town block rather than an acreage block. Thanks Rural! We have an acre and a quarter PMSL lots of mowing for hubby that's for sure! We're currently renting (same place for 3 years) and we're on a 600m2 block and with 2 active boys we decided we wanted an acre minimum. Mind you we will probably not like mowing after a few times of doing it Re: First Home :) Building with Dixon Homes 20Apr 12, 2017 6:46 am Thanks for the link Tribe! I will get on and have a look! I think this is the one that I started following last year but I don't remember it having anything added to it for a while 11 40696 So it looks like we finally have some movement on site! Definitely later than expected, but I'll take any progress at this point. I'll drop by over the weekend to get… 5 27283 Can anyone give me any onfo on New Homes WA? Good or bad, hopefully good just need to know if my choice was good or not? Thanks ❤️ 0 8933 |
