Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 28, 2019 9:29 pm HI All, I am building the belrose 42 LE with metricon. Deposit is all done for the soil and survey. Waiting for Colour appointments now. I have got a quote and seems to be a manageable one. Did anyone building with metricon get a big deviation from the initial quote at contract signing? Are they trustworthy? Waiting for Colour appointments now. I have got a quote and seems to be a manageable one. Did anyone building with metricon get a big deviation from the initial quote at contract signing? Are they trustworthy? I found them to be trustworthy. Our quote slowly grew over the months before we signed and paid 5% deposit. But that was purely because we kept adding upgrades!!! What I will say is this.... double check EVERYTHING in your contract and on your plans along the way. They are severely under resourced in drafting/estimating departments and I always found mistakes. When you get your final contract, cross check every upgrade against the prelim contract. I found a few errors that needed correcting before we signed. Good luck, the admin stage is very slow if you have lots of changes/upgrades. But construction stage is great! Looking forward to following your build! Re: Building Belrose 42 LE with Metricon 3Oct 30, 2019 7:43 am I found Metricon’s construction stage to be very poor. They have effectively no resources for checking contractors workmanship and adherence to the contract plans. The first 6 SS’s just checked things were done and pushed the button to issue stage payment invoices. No quality checking st all during the build. Any questions or requests were ignored, challenged or deflected. Quality checking and negotiating with Metricon to rectify issues will be your responsibility. I had to take legal action to get them to complete the house properly and incurred about $85,000 in additional expenses. The final result is reasonable however. in my experience that Metricon was basically a sales and marketing company with limited process capability in the pre construction, building and warranty phases. Once you sign the contract all the gloss disappears until you recieve the salt and pepper shakers at the end! Re: Building Belrose 42 LE with Metricon 5Oct 30, 2019 6:22 pm Got a call from our sales person saying the prices is increased due to corner treatments about 5K more. With the Final contract signing in December, planning to keep some options open and check with other builders as well. Just in case I get a final price which is very high. Re: Building Belrose 42 LE with Metricon 8Nov 20, 2019 6:54 pm Is Bed 1 (Master?) supposed to have a double vanity? Or just a single one? Any chance of enlarging that outdoor room? Great layout, just seems a tad small compared to other rooms imho. https://thomasarcherbuild.blogspot.com/p/blog-page.html - Thomas Archer Homes - Custom Nouveau 41 Re: Building Belrose 42 LE with Metricon 9Nov 20, 2019 7:47 pm Blacktea2sugars Is Bed 1 (Master?) supposed to have a double vanity? Yes its the master, Its just the single vanity in the standard plan, I am upgrading it to add the double vanity and bath. I will post the new plans soon. Have a look at Glendale 42 which is almost the same plan as this one, it has the double vanity in its standard. Hi, First of all, thank you to this community for sharing your thoughts and opinions.
