Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 26, 2019 6:43 pm We have been living in our new home for around a month now and are still unhappy with the exterior. The brick layers used the wrong mortar colour and we notified them when the job was only a quarter of the way done if that. After being notified the site supervisor still requested the house to be finished with the wrong mortar. We were so unhappy with it that they introduced NawKaw to paint over the mortar with a similar colour we wanted. The bricks were not raked even thought that was in the contract. Apparently didnt take it for our benefit. This is the final outcome picture attached. Does anyone think this is upto standard as builder does not want a bar of it Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Is this upto standard for exterior of home 2Oct 26, 2019 7:38 pm Wow you must’ve been desperate to move in if you’ve accepted that horrible looking work. I feel sorry for you, good luck with obtaining any resolution. I’ll assume you’ve made final payment, basically you’ve signed away any leverage you may have had. What did you say to the SS when he kept going ahead with the wrong mortar? You would’ve paid a stage payment at some point with the brickwork completed, why did you pay that stage when clearly it was muntered and not done according to your contract. Again, final payment, why pay final payment when clearly the job isn’t finished to 1. Standard, and 2. As the contract states? Re: Is this upto standard for exterior of home 3Oct 26, 2019 11:57 pm You’ve made the final payment. You can try at your 3 month maintenance to discuss but I think you’ll need a lawyer to assist you in working through the contractual breach. You should not have to accept that! Good luck! What we have done in a few theatres ( including my own) is run 2 layers of 13mm gyprock, but sounds insulation especially for the bass is really tricky as a lot of that… 4 2560 Hi, Currently building, we are on a sloping block so we have from floor level to the roof in axon cladding.
