We are going to do our selections in a few weeks and I have been doing the reconnaissance. I went to a house by premium builder and saw a window colour and very close match match with the wall paint. It was an off cream color. Possible close to white birch colorbond. Not offered by our builder.
It would appear the window frames have been painted when they painted the wall . It a
Any experiences with buying unpainted aluminium frames and painting them after. It will be expensive but don't know how much.

You can't do it.
The aluminium extrusions are powder coated before manufacturing and the process makes sure all the areas of the frame are coated because it sticks electrostatically and is then backed in an oven. You can't just paint aluminium frames. Firstly, you can't get into all the recesses, and the finish would be terrible. Secondly, the finish won't be as durable as powder coating. Thirdly, it would cost a fortune.
You can get window frames powder coated whatever colour you want but it will cost extra if you choose a non-standard colour.
The more premium the builder the more chance you have of getting something non standard. Basic builders may not even give you the option.

Some window makers let you do custom colors (colorbond range). Got to pay extra and there is no guarantee that you will achieve the desired result.
Our builder uses southern star windows and they do not seem to offer any of those options. Statesman Windows do have a much better range of colors including what i am trying to achieve. Our rental uses Statesman and I am very impressed with the quality
Not sure if others tried to use a different window supplier from who the builder uses and is it simply worth with the hassle.
