Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 19, 2019 10:11 am Hi guys, We are currently getting a Tender for a Clarendon Boston 36 hamptons facade, and we don't really want the grand alfresco because I think it will make the back living feel too dark and closed off from the yard... especially as the back of our house faces South-West....however im not sure if the half alfresco will look weirdly bolted on as the Boston 36 is not L shaped at the back. Has anyone else put just a half alfresco on the back of a Boston 36? (Or other straight-backed home design)... if so, what does it look like? My sales guy can't find me any photos of a half alfresco like that. (I know they'll draw up the elevations but nothing beats photographic evidence!) Re: Clarendon Half Alfresco? What does it look like? 2Apr 05, 2020 8:23 am HI Jenny, I'm about to sign with Clarendon & I'm thinking of building Maddison38. What is your experience overall with Clarendon. They quote for Alfresco $14 and Grand Alfresco $25,397. I can see on Boston36 they are also offering half Alfresco & half Rumpus. I'll guess you are already moving in to the house. Re: Clarendon Half Alfresco? What does it look like? 3Apr 05, 2020 9:54 am Hi. We will be moving into construction soon hopefully... current house is being demolished right now and we have signed off all of our choices. So far the experience has been good. The price is a lot more than their base price because there are a lot of things we upgraded.... some upgrades are purely taste but others are almost mandatory (like electrical generally always costs more). For us the Boston 36 is the perfect layout (with a few minor tweaks) so didn't even look at another home builder tbh. In terms of the alfresco we ended up going half alfresco but with a full length concrete slab across the back of the house and big sliding doors on both sides of the back living room to give us a large area half undercover half open which im really happy with. Goodluck with your choice! Re: Clarendon Half Alfresco? What does it look like? 4Apr 05, 2020 12:40 pm That's a brilliant idea for the alfresco. I am still waiting for the tender. do you mind to tell me the cost of demolishing the house? Our old house is 3 b/r & as with any old home, there's asbestos under the eaves , is that means more money to demolish the house?. Good luck, love to hear the progress of building. ALL homes built prior to 1981 have asbestos in them, yes it does cost more due to the strict rules and regulations around removal and disposal, make sure you trust your demolition company, cheap normally means they are cutting corners, which centres around the asbestos in my experience. No the fireplace doesn’t work. It’s been enclosed. I’m not sure what was removed, as it was done quite some time ago - well before what I can see with photos online… 2 11589 the stair balustrades? There is nothing special about these and I imagine literally every stair installer will be able to do this. 1 6747 The two 15mm holes are obviously not compliant. The Dept of Fair Trading would love to see this one! Do the gutters pool water after it stops raining? Although it's… 4 7872 |
