House built by coral homes. Our slab was poured when it was overcast and got wet from heavy rain approx 2 hrs after the concrete guys left the site. Pics below. The concrete is so soft and easy to chop off. It is starting to bubble up around the edges and sandy/ dusty concrete comes off when touched. Please help, us this a major concern? We have had nothing but trouble for coral homes and had a nightmare build. I wish to remain anonymous. Any advice will be welcome on if this problem is fixable and if it can be fixed? Please don’t sugar coat it I ready to find out what this is. As coral homes are turning a blind eye and saying it is only cosmetic. Re: Problem with 1 year old slab - coral homes 6Oct 06, 2019 9:04 pm Hi,
I expect you'll soon get some help from the experts on the forum, but as its the day before a long weekend you might not get an answer straight away. There are a few threads on here about it raining after the slab. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=27878 [edit] **I see you are already doing this**If you aren't getting any joy from Coral Homes, you could hire an engineer to test the concrete and provide evidence as to whether it is up to spec. Re: Problem with 1 year old slab - coral homes 7Oct 06, 2019 9:14 pm normally only the surface would be affected, increased water weakens the concrete and the rain therefore just weakens surface. Sit can become dusty as a result and may not be a good surface to tile onto Re: Problem with 1 year old slab - coral homes 8Oct 07, 2019 10:04 am Thankyou pulse & luxbuild. We have tiles through our whole house! 😫 Re: Problem with 1 year old slab - coral homes 10Oct 09, 2019 7:25 am I dont mean to be rude but what are you expecting the building co to do to resolve it? Bit of a difficult situation TBH Re: Problem with 1 year old slab - coral homes 11Oct 09, 2019 10:19 am I will admit I am a bit of a 'worrier' with stuff like this also. But from looking at your images I personally wouldn't be too concerned especially if you can no major cracking on the edges of the slab....or internally with the house structure and especially on the garage floor. There doesn't appear to be much 'honey-combing' on your edges, so this indicates it was vibrated in fairly well. I'm no concrete expert myself, but we actually hosed water onto our slab within a few hours of it being completed in late January this year because it was quite a warm period. We did this after speaking to our supervisor about it, and although they didn't think it was necessary, they had no issue with us purposely flooding it with water. There is so much concrete and steel in these slabs, I can't imagine some surface crumbling will cause major structural issues with the main part of the slab itself. Not trying to fob the issue off, but unless you noticed other issues like major cracks appearing etc, I wouldn't be too concerned if it were mine. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Check our Homeone build blog here Your house roof does not show rusting other than some surface rust on the flashings. In my opinion you dont need to replace or paint the roof other than treat surface rust… 1 10209 Ask the council if there is a chance of getting build over easement exemption. Sometimes easements are unused and 24cm is not all that much. Good luck. And yes any builder… 2 13771 In Qld it is a requirement that a builder must have a cost breakdown, for building a home to the same specification, with the same inclusions and the same finish.
