Hi All, expecting the property to be completed by the end of November. Asked for specific dates due to the solar, aircon, flooring, driveway, landscaping all after handover. They basically refused to provide any specific dates and responded copying our contractors stating everyone has to work to the builder's schedule (apart from it's not known!).
Am I being difficult asking for key dates for the build? I would have hoped they would know these so they can request extensions or even from an internal cashflow perspective!

They aren’t going to know this far out. You only have to have someone/something not available and that can throw the schedule. I know it’s frustrating but you probably won’t get a date until you have had the practical completion walk through.

They will not share the practical completion date either - based on the windows/doors are in, ceilings and plastered this week I would have though we would get a "week of xxx". I come from a software pm area so we know key milestones even if they change for planning and cashflow reasons - I am seeing this isn't the same!

Yep, Im a software developer, so I understand your frustration but we can control our env more than they can. Unfortunately you are just going to have to wait. Even at practical completion if there are things you are not happy with and want fixed that will also need to be scheduled in. They might be minor things like a chipped tile, or a mark on the carpet or paint touch ups. But these all will have to be scheduled in. And just a heads up those last few weeks will drag on. Just think at the end you will have a fabulous new house and a few weeks here or there won’t really matter. Good luck I’m sure it will all come together.
Before hand over you will need to pay your final payment which can take time to release funds and you will need the occupational certificate to move in

It depends on the contract. Sometimes the PC is employed by the homeowner and sometimes by the builder. There are variations in each of those scenarios as well. Stewie

Thanks for your input guys We've actually decided to go with a project home builder, purely for a cheaper build, and have upgraded things like the kitchen, bathrooms, paint, etc.
