We recently completed the frame stage and had our private inspection done on Monday. The report came back with a number of defects that we’ve sent on to the site supervisor for resolution.
We received the invoice for the frames stage last week. Just wondering do you wait until all defects are fixed before paying the invoice? Does it delay the build if you tell them you won’t pay until it’s confirmed the defects have been fixed?
Thanks in advance.

In Perth we don't have the regulatory stalemate legal frame work you have in the east Coast.
Inspectors aren't Certified nor Qualified for alternate Solutions and builders do not respect and ignore them
As an Engineer I try to fix structural defects one way or the other after I identify the structural defects on site visits.
OT, at a guess 95% of clients capitulate at non structural progress payment stages while the delays are worse at lock up
Where basically you might be told, "No payment no keys?"
How do you get in to fix any defects?..." you don't, sadly homeowners give in..

I would engage the inspector now and ask them to sort this out. I would have a personal policy that I will not attend unless my representative is afforded free access.
